On July 25, 2019, the GRAMMY Museum hosted rising electronic, indie artist Big Wild for a conversation. As Big Wild, producer, composer & now-turned vocalist Jackson Stell crafts lush soundscapes and sweeping melodies that challenge the status quo of electronic music. First breaking out in 2015, Big Wild has become one of the fastest-rising electronic artists in recent years, first making waves with his incendiary track “Aftergold” (via Foreign Family Collective), which topped the Spotify Global Viral Chart and was featured in a national Apple Watch ad campaign. As the next progression, in February 2019, Big Wild released his debut album, Superdream, on Counter Records. The album sees Stell pushing the boundaries of genre and as an artist like never before, as he serves as the primary lyricist, singer, and songwriter for the first time ever. Each song is diverse in sound and scope, representing the full spectrum of emotions and experiences that are central to the essence of being.
Moreover, as a performer, Big Wild is unparalleled, proving one of the most progressive acts on the circuit today as he brings the album to life on stage. He’s performed at world-renowned festivals, including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, Austin City Limits, and many more, with performances at Outside Lands, Red Rocks, and two sold-out shows at the LA State Historic Park supporting ODESZA. His live show has him switching between multiple instruments (drum pads, synths, keyboards & live vocals) to deliver a hybrid show—one that is rooted in electronic music, yet is infused with energetic pop, indie & disco elements, distinguishing himself as a standout artist that is not to be missed.
