On December 9, 2019, the GRAMMY Museum welcomed multi-platinum recording artist, musician, composer, arranger, and singer Morris Day and his co-author—GRAMMY-winning musician, co-composer of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing, and renowned music biographical author, David Ritz—for a discussion on the making of Day’s recent memoir, On Time: A Princely Life in Funk. Morris Day is best known as the lead singer of The Time. He co-starred with Prince during a breakout acting performance in the blockbuster film, Purple Rain. The new memoir, On Time: A Princely Life in Funk, is a comprehensive, free-wheeling extension of Day’s music, his life with Prince, and the culture from which the Minneapolis funk scene was born.
