"On September 21, 2021, the GRAMMY Museum welcomed Director Sean Pecknold in conversation with Fleet Foxes' bandleader and brother Robin Pecknold, moderated by LA-based artist and designer Jeremiah Chiu. Fleet Foxes' fourth studio album Shore was surprise-released last year on the Autumnal Equinox to global acclaim. To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the release, the band premiered a new animated video by longtime collaborator and director Sean Pecknold and screened a retrospective of his Fleet Foxes film-based work. Since 2008, Sean has crafted the visual narrative behind Fleet Foxes' songs, interpreting them for the screen in the form of music videos, short films and production design. While his chosen medium shifts dynamically between claymation, stop-frame animation and live action, his point of view remains singularly engaging. Employing analog filmmaking techniques, he creates stories that evoke a vast range of universal emotion whether his characters are lonely shapes, people, creatures or objects. The program included a screening of Sean's work for Fleet Foxes, highlighting over 10 videos and select behind-the-scenes footage followed by the premiere of a new animated work."
