Celeste & Daniel Pemberton

As part of the GRAMMY Museum’s Programs at Home series, Moderator Scott Goldman talks with Celeste & Daniel Pemberton about the making of the original song “Hear My Voice” for the Netflix film, The Trial of the Chicago 7. The song is performed by Celeste (whose debut album, Not Your Muse, is available now via Interscope Records) and written by Celeste together with Pemberton, who composed the Original Score for the film. The Trial of the Chicago 7 tells the story of what was intended to be a peaceful protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention, but turned into a violent clash with police and the National Guard. The organizers of the protest—including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale—were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot and the trial that followed was one of the most notorious in history.
