Like a sonic north star, major 9 chords hold down countless favorites and staples in the jazz canon. In a very similar fashion, Tiana Major9 roots her bold blend of future-facing R&B, enduring soul, and hip-hop attitude in boundless jazz eloquence twisted up with saucy East London inflection and a touch of Jamaican spirit. In 2019, she grasped for critical mass. Tiana dropped Rehearsal @ NINE EP, her debut project and lent her voice to “Rainfall” from Stormzy’s Heavy Is The Head later that year. Along the way, BBC Radio 1Xtra named her among its “Hot for 2019” list. Plus, she shared the stage with everyone from Jessie to Kelela and Lauryn Hill. To close out the year, she joined forces with EARTHGANG for “Collide” from Queen & Slim: The Soundtrack. Not only did it exceed 9.4 million Spotify streams in a few months’ time, but she also performed the collaboration alongside the duo on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, at the Soul Train Awards ’19, and at Billboard “Women In Music. ” Signing to Motown Records, she kicks off her next chapter with the single “Think About You” which is featured on her latest 6 track EP “AT SIXES AND SEVENS”. An eclectic project, “Think About You” incorporates simmering reggae grooves into a smoky soundscape from producer Wavsdntdie, she carries an impassioned and irresistible refrain with raw longing.
