GRAMMY nominated Yola joined us on October 16th 2019 to discuss her critically acclaimed album, Walk Through Fire. Produced by Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), the album is a genre-bending release from one of the most powerful emerging British voices in music today. Yola has won supporters including The New York Times, Rolling Stone Magazine, and NPR Music. She has appeared on CBS Saturday Morning and has toured the US extensively, taking her from The Hollywood Bowl to Newport Folk Festival where she performed with The Highwomen, Mavis Staples, Sheryl Crow and Dolly Parton. She also opened for Kacey Musgraves on her U.S. tour. The songwriting team for the album included Yola, longtime John Prine collaborator Pat McLaughlin and the legendary Dan Penn (“Dark End of the Street,” “Cry Like a Baby,” “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man”) and features guests such as Vince Gill and bluegrass icons Ronnie McCoury, Molly Tuttle, Stuart Duncan, and Charlie McCoy.
