In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to present a special conversation with Colombian band Bomba Estéreo discussing their latest album, “Deja,” creative process, career, and more. The conversation is moderated by Raul Campos of KCRW.
Bomba Estéreo, whose core members are beatmaster/composer Simon and vocalist/lyricist Li Saumet, have been a major force in the alternative/Caribbeat/dance scene since 2010’s smash hit “Fuego.” Subsequent releases like Latin GRAMMY nominated 'Elegancia Tropical' (2013), GRAMMY nominated 'Amanecer' (2015), and GRAMMY nominated 'Ayo' (2017) have put them at the forefront of influential hybrid-beat bands, as well as blowing up dancehalls from New York to Paris to Tokyo.. The band’s new album, ‘Deja,' is conceptually divided into four sections that correspond to the earth's four elements: Agua, Aire, Tierra, and Fuego. The New York Times profile shares that "Bomba Estéreo Strives to Save the Planet and Soothe the Heart… mixing traditions and electronics, this duo from Colombia envisions a futurism with roots.”
