ABOUT THOMAS RHETT
Already crowned as one of country’s most consistent-yet-dynamic modern superstars, Thomas Rhett has become a master of the high-wire act that is creative growth. With both songwriting prowess and charisma, his six previous albums were fueled by equal parts energy and emotion, balancing commercial success with artistic dexterity to continually keep fans on their toes. But for his seventh full-length set, About A Woman, he just wants to put them on their feet.
“From top to bottom, I just wanted to exude joy and fun – and really just make people move,” Thomas Rhett says, describing a set which takes timeless romantic nostalgia to country’s progressive cutting edge. “I was thinking like, ‘Man, I haven’t just made a record that my kids and my wife want to dance to in a while. So how do I make that possible?’”
As any artist will tell you, that simple goal is deceptively difficult. But in building on a rep for spirit-feeding love songs that speak to the masses, About A Woman checks every box.
Pairing his laid-back perspective with a vocal drenched in casual country soul, Thomas Rhett has spent just over 10 years gathering 22 Number Ones, 16 billion streams and armfuls of awards – including the 2020 ACM Entertainer of the Year trophy. His chart-topping streak extends all the way back to 2013 – a near-perfect run broken only by a song which was eventually certified Platinum, and is now a mainstay of his euphoric live shows (“Vacation”) – and through that time, he’s never remained static.
In fact, About A Woman finds the star coming off multiple projects which showcased his songwriting skill – from pure-country devotion to pop’s bleeding-edge intensity. About A Woman is another step forward, but also reminiscent of the period behind the star’s breakout songs … ones that defined his high-energy emotionalism, and bounced around the map as much as Thomas Rhett does on stage.
